YELLOW ROSE RACE
The 18th Annual Yellow Rose 5K/10K Race is back with both a virtual and in-person race for 2021! Last year’s virtual race was such a successful way to bring people together across the country that we have decided to make it a tradition. This year, the virtual race will start on Friday, August 6, through Friday, August 13, leading right up to the in-person race day on Saturday, August 14. Make it a Yellow Rose Challenge by doing both the virtual and in-person race!

Saturday, August 14TH at Allison Park
The in-person race will center around the buzz happening at Allison Park. The starting and finishing lines will be on the west side of the park with the 10k starting at 8:30 a.m. and the 5k to follow. This year, the event will also include a kid’s fun run that will begin after the 5k runners return at 10:30 a.m.

A virtual race can be run (or walked!) anytime and anywhere during Friday, August 6 - Friday, August 13th, even indoors on a treadmill. Maybe you plan your race route around your neighborhood, favorite trail or within the comforts of your own home – you set your own course! New this year: Race times can be submitted to Gopher State Events online
Participants are encouraged to use Personal Fitness Trackers:

Free cellphone app ideas: Pacer, Map My Run, Fitbit, or RunKeeper

This four-week challenge is a FUN, engaging competition to promote wellness and create excitement for race week in August.

COVID-19 safety protocol
The entire event will be held outdoors
Staggered start times to ensure social distancing on the race route
Masks will be given to all in-person participants (included in race bag). All participants are required to wear a mask during the registration and bib handout time; as soon as they start to warm-up (start exercising) they may remove their mask.
Communications will be shaped to ensure safety guidelines
Event staff volunteers will complete a health screening questionnaire and temperature check the morning of the race and will be required to wear a mask
Sanitizing stations and hand sanitizer readily available
Physical markers for 6 foot distancing will be placed at all tables: Day of race registration, door prize and race bag pickup
